M∴W∴ John W. Westerman, III, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and spent much of his youth in Bethesda, Maryland. He is a graduate of Valparaiso University and has earned two Master’s Degrees including an MBA in Finance. He is married to Sudy Westerman and together they have four adult children and three grandchildren. The family moved to Winter Haven, Florida, twenty-six years ago where he worked in the Financial Services Industry for twenty-five years until his recent retirement.

M∴W∴ Westerman received the Three Symbolic Degrees of Freemasonry in Travelers Lodge No. 390 in Lake Alfred, Florida. He served his Lodge as Worshipful Master in 2009 and holds a Perpetual Membership in his home Lodge. He was appointed District Deputy Grand Master by M∴W∴ Jorge Aladro on May 31, 2012. Additionally, he has served as a member of the Masonic Home Board of Trustees where he was the Chairman of the Operations Committee from 2013 to 2016. During those same years he served the Craft as a member of the Grand Lodge’s Endowment and Investment Committee before being elected Junior Grand Warden in May of 2016.



As a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason he was honored with the Investiture of a Knight Commander Court of Honor on November 11, 2017. He also holds membership in the Maxwell Clan of the Royal Order of Scotland; the Lakeland York Rite Bodies; Egypt Shriners; Zendah Grotto; the Knight Masons; the Red Cross of Constantine; and the Winter Haven Chapter No. 74, Order of the Eastern Star.
