Inter-Jurisdictional contact with another Grand Jurisdiction

A couple of months ago while I was on vacation I met two Masonic brothers, we got talking and the conversation switched over to their families and how they would both love to find out more about their Masonic roots but they were confused about the exact procedure here in the State of Florida to make proper contact with another Masonic Jurisdiction. I told them I didn't have an answer but I'd look it up and let them know.

After consulting the Masonic Digest of Law on the Grand Lodge of Florida's website I found the answer, in Chapter 15, Section 15.01 it states "All Inter-Jurisdictional correspondence shall be sent through the office of the Grand Master, except that requests for “Work by Courtesy” to and from other Grand Jurisdictions may be made through the office of the Grand Secretary." So basically what this is saying unless your a member in good standing of the Masonic jurisdiction that you wish to contact it is against Masonic protocol here in Florida to contact that Grand Jurisdiction directly.

If you need to establish contact with another jurisdiction please call the Grand Lodge office at 1-904-354-2339 to request instructions on sending your request to the Grand Master and/or the Grand Secretary.

Perpetual Membership

As a Brother of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Florida you can further your support for your lodge and Freemasonry by purchasing a Perpetual Membership, whereby you fill out Grand Lodge Form 410 (Perpetual Membership) available from and should be returned to your Lodge Secretary along with the appropriate fees as described below, the Lodge Secretary will submit it to Grand Lodge. Once your petition for Perpetual Membership has been processed and approved by Grand Lodge you will receive a certificate of Perpetual Membership signed by the Grand Master and Grand Secretary and as of the date on the certificate your no longer obligated in perpetuity to pay lodge dues or the Grand Lodge Per Capita. You will still receive a dues bill each year with a zero balance, the only thing that will appear is the voluntary contribution to the Masonic Home of Florida currently set at $7.30 per year and you are strongly encouraged to support the Masonic Home.

All of the monies that are received from the Perpetual Memberships are pooled together into a high-yield bank account and at the end of each year Grand Lodge takes a portion of the earned interest and distributes it to each lodge based on the number of Perpetual Memberships that the lodge has and the interest from your Perpetual Membership continues even after you pass to the Celestial Lodge above.

A Perpetual Membership can be paid in full or through a payment plan. For the payment plan you must put down a minimum of $200 when you submit your Perpetual Membership petition to Grand Lodge and then you have exactly Five(5) years to pay the remaining balance, If you fail to pay the balance in full by the required time Grand Lodge will return your Perpetual Membership petition as unfulfilled and you will receive back the money you paid and will be required to restart the process all over again.

Please note if you opt for the Perpetual Membership payment plan, you are STILL OBLIGATED to pay your lodge's yearly dues and the Grand Lodge Per Capita while you are paying off your Perpetual Membership. Failure to do so may result in a NDP (Non-Dues Payment) notice and possible suspension of your membership.

All payments should be in U.S. Dollars and made payable to PERPETUAL MEMBERSHIP FUND. Acceptable forms of payment include a certified or personal check or money order issued by a National Association bank such as Bank of America, Chase or Wells Fargo, a Federal Credit Union including Addition, Navy Federal or Fairwinds or a money order issued by the U.S. Postal Service or a Money Transmitting Service licensed in the State of Florida such as AMSCOT or Western Union.

A Perpetual Membership paid in full is non-refundable per the Perpetual Membership petition.

There are currently three types of Perpetual Memberships available in the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Florida of Free and Accepted Masons.

Regular Perpetual Membership

The cost of this Perpetual Membership is currently Twenty (20) times your current lodge dues plus the Grand Lodge Per Capita. If you wish to further support your lodge with a higher financial benefit per year, there is also a Gold Perpetual Membership at Twenty-Five (25) times your lodge dues and GL per capita and Platinum Perpetual Membership at Fifty (50) times your lodge dues and GL per capita.

This is available to Master Masons in good standing within the Grand Lodge of Florida.

Memorial Perpetual Membership

The Memorial Perpetual Memberships allow you to honor a deceased Masonic Brother, a family member or a friend. The cost is $200.00. Please note, Memorial Perpetual Membership DOES NOT PROVIDE NOR GRANT LODGE MEMBERSHIP RIGHTS OR BENEFITS to the deceased honoree or their family. This is simply a way to honor them and provide support to a Masonic Lodge.

The application for the Memorial Perpetual Membership must be initiated by a Brother in Good Standing in the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Florida.

Honorary Perpetual Membership

The Honorary Perpetual Membership allows you to honor a fellow Brother Mason, a family member or friend. The cost is $200.00. Please note, Honorary Perpetual Membership DOES NOT PROVIDE NOR GRANT LODGE MEMBERSHIP RIGHTS OR BENEFITS to the Honorary recipient. This is simply a way to honor them and provide support to a Masonic Lodge.

The application for the Honorary Perpetual Membership must be initiated by a Brother in Good Standing in the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Florida.

If you have further questions or would like to request a Perpetual Membership application please contact the Perpetual Membership Committee at perpetualmembership@21stmasonicdistrict.com.

Website access fixed

After having exhausting conversations with both Google and GoDaddy we've finally fix the problem of accessing this website using a naked domain, previously you could only reach this website using the www.21stmasonicdistrict.com but you could not use 21stmasonicdistrict.com, now you can use either address and the site will come up.

It can take anywhere from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours for our website's information to propagate across the Internet so that your Internet service's DNS servers can reach our website using both URL address methods. If you are still experiencing any problems whatsoever please immediately contact Bro. Rick Schwarz via email at office@21stmasonicdistrict.com.

Thank you.
